Anastasia Meshkova and Stallion Manager, Mike Ribant, of Chicago, Illinois are pleased to announce that war horse and elite speed pacer, Capozzo (p,2, 154.1f; p,3, 150.2; p,4, 148.0; $648,226), will stand his first season at stud in 2024 at Bluff Country Equine in Minnesota for a fee of $2,000.
A late May foal in 2011, Capozzo was not staked as a two or three year-old but nevertheless earned $95,759 during his sophomore campaign. Capozzo’s dazzling 4yo campaign included his personal best record of 148.0 at the Meadowlands. He outraced some of the sports best horses during an illustrious career, including the likes of Bit of A Legend ($2,569,621), Doctor Butch ($1,665,093), Fort Knox ($261,256), Odds on Equuleus ($935,816), and Stevensville ($529,929)
Regally bred, by the sports most prolific sire, Bettor’s Delight, Capozzo was out of Annie McGuire N ($280,060) by the Southern Hemisphere speedster sire, In The Pocket ($1,537,473). Of the many Bettor’s Delight sons who went on to be stallions themselves, only Tall Dark Stranger (147.1), Betting Line (147.2) and Bettor’s Wish (147.3) were faster than Capozzo (148.0). Standing his first season in 2024, Capozzo's record time of 148.0 M is tied with Vlos (148.0 Z) as the fastest standardbred standing in Minnesoata.

2YO Season
Capozzo was foaled late in the season on May 20, 2011. Despite not being staked for his 2YO season, he earned $24,525 in eight races, running in the money in 6 of the 8. He won 2 of those 8 races, setting a 2YO mark of 154.1h at Yonkers, with a Beaten Time of 153.0f set in a 2nd place effort at Chester.

2014
3YO Season
Though Capozzo's new connections tried an appeal to the Board of the NY Gaming Commission, it was determined that the previous owners failed to make the stakes eligibility payments on time, so Capozzo again raced without benefit of being staked in his 3YO season (see bottom of Page 10, here). Despite this, Capozzo won $95,789 during his sophomore campaign while setting a 3YO mark of 150.2 in a 10-horse field at the Meadowlands.

2015
Capozzo's Amazing 4YO Season
Capozzo flashed elite speed during his tremendous 4yo season. He set his record mark of 148.0 at the Meadolwands on July 18, 2015. Exactly a week earlier, he finished a tick behind Art Major-sired Odds On Equuleus ($935,816) in 148.1. A week after setting his 148.0 mark, he won again at the Meadowlands in 149.3 racing from the 7 hole. Earlier in the year, on January 31st he ran 3rd in a time of 149.4, ahead of Odds On Equuleus who ran in 151.2. Capozzo also won in 152.2 at Yonkers over current sires Fort Knox (IL Fee = $2,000) and Stevensville (IL Fee = $2,500) on May 16, 2015. Though unable to compete in stakes races as a 2 and 3 year-old, Capozzo's 4yo season proved that he belonged in the upper echelon of pacers.

2016 - 2023
War Horse
Anastasia Meshkova acquired Capozzo as a 12-year-old in March 2023 and retired him from racing two months later, to prepare him for his well deserved stallion career. Capozzo's racing career was the embodiment of grit, durability, and athleticism. He ended his career with 255 starts, 39 wins, 40 places, and 40 shows. As a 7yo, he set his half-mile mark of 151.3 at Yonkers on August 4th, 2018. Five weeks earlier, on June 30th, he placed in 152.1 at Yonkers, edging out Bit Of A Legend ($2,569,621) who ran 3rd in the same race. In that same 7yo season, on June 23 2018, he won at Yonkers in 151.4, beating current sire Doctor Butch ($1,665,093). As a 10-year old, Capozzo set his 5/8-mile record of 151.2 at Harrah's Philadelphia. During an illustrious 11-year racing career Capozzo outraced some of the sports best horses, including the likes of Bit of A Legend, Doctor Butch, Fort Knox, Odds on Equuleus, and Stevensville.
